FCE, Ilawe-Ekiti Holds Day Two Finale of Students’ Orientation Programme

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti, concluded its 2025 Students’ Orientation Programme with a highly engaging second-day session that equipped fresh students with essential knowledge for navigating academic and social life on campus.
The day’s programme opened with the Ag. Director of Quality Assurance, Dr. Jimoh Abiodun, who emphasized the importance of regular class attendance as a compulsory requirement and a cornerstone of academic success.
Next was a presentation on accessing medical care, delivered by the Ag. Director of the College Health Centre, Dr. Adeola Adewusi. She highlighted the health services available to students, stressed preventive care, and urged them to make their health a top priority.
The Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Temidayo Taiwo, spoke on accommodation, adjusting to campus life, and student involvement in the union, clubs, and societies. She encouraged students to take advantage of campus opportunities for growth while balancing academics with extracurricular activities.
Delivering a lecture on Results’ Computation and Grading System, Dr. A.O. Lasode, representing the Ag. Director of ICT, Dr. (Mrs.) Kate Folayan, explained the processes of continuous assessment, examination grading, and the integrity of the College’s ICT-driven result management platform.
The Acting Chief Security Officer, Dr. Fabunmi, took the stage on safety and security tips, urging students to remain vigilant, obey security regulations, and promptly report suspicious activities on campus.
A session on mental health followed, delivered by Dr. Olaoye Adekunle Olufemi, representing the Acting Director of the Counseling and Career Centre, Dr. Ogungbamila. He advised students to prioritize emotional well-being, manage stress responsibly, and seek professional help when necessary.
The day’s lectures concluded with a presentation on ethics and professional conduct by Dr. Babajide Bowale, Ag. Head, Department of Early Childhood Education. She highlighted expected behavior, appropriate dress codes, and responsible use of social media.
In addition, the Ag. Works and Physical Planning Officer, Engr. Kayode, sensitized students on maintenance culture and proper use of College facilities.
The programme also featured an interactive session, where students engaged resource persons with questions and received clarifications. The event ended with a vote of thanks by the Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Taiwo, who appreciated the College Management, facilitators, and students for their active participation.
With the two-day orientation officially closed, the College reaffirmed its commitment to providing holistic education that fosters excellence in academics, discipline, and character development.
