TPL. Abubakar Sadiq Ahmad
Council Member, Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti
TPL Abubakar Sadiq is a distinguished Urban and Regional Planning professional and public administrator with over two decades of experience in urban development, governance, and strategic project implementation. He brings to the Governing Council a wealth of expertise in policy formulation, infrastructure planning, and institutional development.
TPL Abubakar holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Master’s degree in Transport Management Science, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Urban Development and Governance. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, he has also been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning.

TPL Abubakar is a registered Town Planner (RTP) and a full member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (MNITP). He is equally certified in Construction Arbitration, demonstrating his proficiency in dispute resolution within the built environment sector.
TPL Abubakar’s Professional career spans both public and private sectors, including consultancy roles in urban planning, housing, and infrastructure development. He has also served in key government positions within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including as Special Assistant and Personal Assistant to Honourable Ministers, where he played critical roles in policy coordination, planning, and project implementation, particularly in satellite town development.
In 2024, TPL Abubakar was appointed as a Member of the First Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti. In this capacity, he contributes to the formulation of institutional policies, strategic oversight, and the advancement of the College’s mandate in teacher education and national development.
TPL Abubakar has participated in several national and international conferences and professional engagements, including global forums on sustainable urban development, climate resilience, and infrastructure systems. His contributions reflect a strong commitment to knowledge advancement and best practices in planning and governance.
Beyond his professional engagements, TPL Abubakar has been actively involved in community and national development initiatives, particularly in areas of policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and grassroots mobilization. His contributions have earned him numerous recognitions and awards in leadership and public service.
