FCE, Ilawe-Ekiti Holds 2nd Matriculation Ceremony, Admits 345 Students

The Federal College of Education (FCE), Ilawe-Ekiti, today marked a significant milestone as it formally matriculated 345 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, in a historic ceremony underscoring the institution’s continued academic expansion and commitment to quality teacher education.

The well-attended event brought together principal officers of the college and key external stakeholders, including the Acting Provost, Dr. Abdulmumin Isah; the Registrar, Dr. Khadijah Wuraola Garba; the Bursar, Mrs. Mofoluso Olutayo-David; and the Ekiti State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr. Ganiyu Ishola.

In his matriculation address titled “From NCE to Degree: Exploring Academic Pathways,” Dr. Isah congratulated the matriculating students and encouraged them to take full advantage of the expanded academic opportunities available within the college system, which now allows for seamless progression to higher qualifications.

He emphasized that success is driven by intentional effort rather than circumstance, urging students to see their admission as the beginning of a purposeful academic journey.

Using the allegory of an eagle raised among chickens, he challenged the students to rise above self-imposed limitations and embrace their full potential, stressing that while the institution provides the platform, their determination will ultimately determine their success. To guide their academic and personal growth, he outlined five key principles: being purpose-driven, valuing time, upholding integrity, embracing technology, and engaging in continuous learning beyond the classroom through entrepreneurial, leadership, and community development activities.

The college management also reaffirmed its commitment to providing a conducive environment that fosters academic excellence, innovation, discipline, and professional development, assuring parents and guardians of ongoing improvements in facilities, staff capacity, and the overall learning experience.

The ceremony concluded with the formal administration of the matriculation oath by the Registrar, Dr. Khadijah Wuraola Garba, symbolizing the students’ commitment to academic integrity and service.
